OUR PRODUCTS and SERVICES
Implosive Sleeves Corp.
We are a Canadian company specializing in implosive splicing. Our staff includes the world’s most knowledgeable technical experts in the field of implosive splicing.
ISC operates a manufacturing facility in Ontario for the production of implosive connectors, and works closely with VP Metall in Norway.
Among the company’s inaugural projects are the Bipole III transmission line in Manitoba, and the electrical supply line for the Brucejack gold mine in Northern BC and Alaska.
We make IMPLOSIVE CONNECTORS
Implosive splices are supplied as Dead End Joints, Jumper Terminals, Full Tension Joints, and Anchor Terminations for a wide range of commonly used conductors and steel ropes, including…
ACSR
ACSS
AAC
AAC/AAAC
ACAR
AASC
Steel guy wire (0.5″ to 1.5″)
Aluminum conductors (50mm2 to 1584 mm2)
Steel conductors (39mm2 to 900 mm2)
We also supply Accessories
In addition to splices, we also supply all the accessories needed for installing implosive connectors, such as detonators, shock tube, initiators, magazine log books, blasting log books, and anvil cutters for cutting shock tube. Magazines, containers and licensing are part of the job and we offer those as well so you have everything you need to get the job done easily and efficiently.
We will also help you optimize quantities so you don’t buy more than you need, and so you don’t run out in the middle of the job.
We will also accept returns of surplus goods in certain circumstances.
Packaging
Our implosive sleeves are packaged in sturdy wooden boxes.
These boxes are weather resistant and will not fall apart in the field. They maintain durability through all weather conditions, and are easy to handle when field conditions get tough.
Since they can be stacked, they can be stored more efficiently to take up less space in the magazine.
Each box is light enough for one person to handle, and each contains a field installation manual.
Training
We’ll train your crew in all aspects of implosive spicing safety and installation. ISC takes great care in training line crews in proper installation method and product safety.
A classroom session provides a textbook study of the pertinent regulatory requirements governing the safe handling, storage and transport of implosive sleeves.
A field training session provides hands-on experience, providing a good understanding of the process of installing implosive sleeves.
Successful graduates will receive certification from ISC and, where applicable, a provincial certificate is issued, entitling the successful student to supervise the work of others in the field.
Testing
All products are tested in independent accredited labs.
Testing includes:
Tensile Load Test to IEC 61284 Cl11.5.1
Electrical Current Cycling Test to IEC 61284 Cl 13
Visual Corona Test to CSA C83
Radio Influence Voltage Test to CSA C108.3.1
Impact Test to ASTM A370, E23
Weld Crack Test to ASTM E1471
Storage
Implosive sleeves are stored in magazines, specified and licensed pursuant to NRCAN/ERD requirements BNQ 2910-500 (2015).
ISC will assist you with obtaining and licensing your magazine if you are considering using implosive sleeves on your next project.
Whether you lease or buy, magazines can be supplied to your custom requirements.
Each magazine is supplied with a remotely powered monitoring system. A separate compartment for detonators can be provided if needed.
If portability is important, the magazine can be built on axles, to make the magazine transportable.
Technical Support
Our staff is available around the clock to provide technical support as may be required.
Sometimes, when help is needed in the field, or if a second opinion is needed on whether or not an installation was made incorrectly, we are available on a moment’s notice.
We can also help you plan and manage your inventories. With our many decades of experience, chances are good that we have a pretty good idea of what you will need, so we can take some of the worry out for you.
